Despite increased disclosures, inclusion across India Inc remains low, reports The Economic Times. Persons with disabilities (PwDs) comprise just 0.65% of the total workforce, with 37.9% of listed companies employing none, suggests data from the Marching Sheep PwD Inclusion Index 2025, which covered 876 firms across 59 sectors. Although there was a 4.1% increase in organisations hiring at least one disabled employee compared to last year, the overall participation rate remains alarmingly low, the report adds.

The headline speaks for itself: “Corporate India shows less than 1% PwD representation despite rising disclosures.”
As highlighted in the Marching Sheep report, conversations around disability inclusion may be rising, but progress on actual employment is still painfully slow. The data from 876 organizations paints a clear picture, representation sits at just 0.65%, and many companies haven’t hired even a single person with a disability.
This feature isn’t just news; it is a call to action for every leader to move beyond intent and focus on impact.
