A workplace where incidents happen but are never reported is not a safe workplace. It is a silent one. The costs do not disappear — they disperse, writes Sonica Aron, Founder & Managing Partner of Marching Sheep.
Ask most leadership teams what a case under Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) costs, and you will hear the statutory answer: a fine of up to ₹50,000 for non-compliance. It is a number small enough to be filed under “acceptable risk.” And that is precisely the problem. Because the fine is the cheapest part of a POSH case. The real cost sits quietly inside your organisation — in productivity, in leadership bandwidth, in trust — and no invoice ever arrives for it.
