The report will include details of all 21 disabilities, the symptoms, their accessibility needs- physical, digital, mental and emotional along with solutions. We have weaved in a quiz to make the reading engaging and check on conceptual understanding of each disability. Furthermore, the report also includes best practices, legal statutes from 15 counties and a complete employer handbook that talks about do’s and don’ts from entry to exit.

Data Collection Method: Semi-Structured Interviews

In order to make this report holistic, with a heart and soul, we have spoken with persons with disabilities from the 21 disabilities covered under the RPWD act. Since challenges faced by each disability were different, the accessibility needs were also different, hence we used a semi-structured questionnaire which was customised to meet the needs of every disability.

We spoke to people who were employed, and those who were looking for employment. We spoke to their caregivers, to those who were working actively as allies, to employers to get a 360 degree view of the facts. Additionally we carried out extensive secondary research and gathered all the relevant yet scattered information in one place. From mandatory legal compliances, to templates that need to be followed, to NGOs in different locations and so on.

This is our honest attempt to make a difference to the lives of people with disabilities and we know that organisations that apply the information in this report will be able to expedite their inclusion journey.

This is also a live document. We will not stop here. We will keep on adding to the country research and increasing the width and depth of this report.
